The Schedule’s In

I spent my Saturday morning poring over a spreadsheet accompanied with tea and toast. It was a big two cups of tea mission... sorting my schedule for the Tauranga Arts Festival. NJ, what have you gotten yourself into this time? I had romanticised visions of being in some kind of New York Broadway dream (complete with looking ultra-fabulous). I looked down at the timetable I had created and then at my freshly jam and butter stained PJs. I had momentarily forgotten that there were only 24 hours in a day.
Making the spreadsheet was exciting, adding shows here and there like an over-zealous stage show make-up artist. It was when I had to scroll down and down and down to see the masterpiece that I had created and fathom the magnificence of it all. Then I started to maybe freak out a little bit right in the back of my mind reserved for quietly freaking out at things. Some nights, I have three shows booked back to back and I’ve still got to get up for work the next morning. Thank goodness there’s a long weekend in the middle, so I can regain some sleeping points to power up.
I am actually really super excited about the Tauranga Arts Fest and all of the shows that I will be skipping off to. Some I even get to take friends and colleagues to, because I know that my opinion will not suffice in unfamiliar territory. Like checking out Pauline Scanlon, my Emerald Isle music knowledge only reaches as far as the CD’s on high rotation whilst working in an Irish pub. I have avoided listening to The Corrs ever since.
So freaking out aside, I am ready to jump aboard the Tauranga Arts Fest wave and ride it into shore. There’s plenty to see and do on my tight schedule. But I’m ready! I’ll just have to don my ‘running’ stilettos.
